Welcome to the Richmond Curling Club 2024-2025 season. So many exciting changes to share. First, we have a new office manager. Please welcome Jesse Attfield! He’ll be helping us manage the business of running a curling club (think budgets, bills. etc). We’ve also made lots of improvements to the club over the summer:
- New chairs upstairs.
- Upgraded lighting on the ice. The new LED lights are brighter and save money for the club.
- New light switches, light fixtures, paint, and shelves throughout the club.
- A water softener has been added to improve the water quality. This also saves money on Jet Ice which we use to improve the ice quality.
- In the men’s changing room you’ll notice that the ice machine has been moved out and that the plumbing has been improved.
- An upgraded water dispenser is available by the bar and the water dispenser on the ice has been removed (so bring your water bottles!)
- On the ice, you’ll notice that the side boards, advertising and flags have all been refreshed and that we have new exit doors that will improve the insulation and help with the ice quality.
From Matt Leveille our director in charge of Ice and Facilities:
“Facility changes could not have happened without all the amazing volunteers who took the time out of their busy schedules to better our club. As the new facilities director I am extremely proud to lead the group of such amazing and dedicated individuals. Sincere thanks to Herb and Ken Wilson for heading up and organizing the Lighting Retrofit for the Ice.”
Our club is run by volunteers. We are grateful for everyone who gives their time and energy to keep the club running. Our goal for this year to see new volunteers join us in improving the club. Opportunities for volunteers are sent out in the newsletter or contact any board or committee members.

The season runs from Oct. 21 to April 13 (last league play will be April 9th). Keep in mind the following key dates for season kick-off:
- In-person registration and drop-in: Friday Sept 27 6:30-8:30pm (bar and snacks will be available – all welcome) and Saturday September 28 10am – noon
- Oct 19th first event of the season (2x6 end games, lunch, dinner, beer samples) link
Note a few draw changes:
- Fixed Mixed Thursday evenings and Sundays will now have 4 divisions with 2 draws on Sunday. The goal is to reduce the number of byes.
- A new Thursday day-time (afternoon) fixed Teams league has been added to registration to see if there is sufficient interest. Note: this is separate from the current evening/Sunday fixed mixed.
Looking forward to seeing you all back on the ice. Good Curling!
