Welcome everyone to the Richmond Curling Club 2026-2027 season!

As we get ready to start another exciting season at the Richmond Curling Club, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning members—and a very special welcome to those joining our club for the first time. We are thrilled to have you with us!

The start of a new curling season is always something to look forward to: catching up with old friends, making new ones, getting back on the ice, and enjoying everything that makes our club such a great place to be.

Over the summer, there has also been quite a bit happening behind the scenes. We’ve completed a number of upgrades and preventative maintenance projects around the club. Some of the work may not be immediately noticeable, but a significant amount of effort has gone into getting the club ready for another season and making sure we continue to have a great place to curl, socialize and enjoy the winter.

Here is a list of just a few of the changes and upgrades:

Front entrance modifications for improved use of space (club banners moved to the rink), electrical upgrades such as new lighting in the bar area, roof (still in good condition) cleaned and repainted, new banner with new club logo installed at end of rink, ceiling tiles inspected and replaced where needed, new gas stove in kitchen and old lounge tables replaced.  A special thank you to Paul Markell who spearheaded these important upgrades.

Be sure to join us for our Opening Spiel on October 17^th. This year’s theme is All About Canada, so get ready to celebrate all things Canadian. We’re looking forward to a fun day filled with curling, camaraderie and, of course, a little Canadian spirit!

I would like to thank our Board of Directors and all of the volunteers who have already put time and effort into preparing for the season. Throughout the season, there will be many opportunities to volunteer and get involved with the club. Our curling club is only as strong as the members who contribute their time and talents, so I encourage everyone to watch for volunteer opportunities and consider getting involved. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, every contribution makes a difference.

Most importantly, I hope this season is one where we have fun, make some new friends, strengthen old friendships, and enjoy everything that our club has to offer.

I am honoured to serve as your President this year and am looking forward to working with the Board and all of you to make this a fun, welcoming and successful season.
